“The Neo Lounge Affair” is a story about industrial espionage and the irreversible high stakes that inevitably reveal those who are employed and enticed by the allure of greed, sex and power. The players in this twisted, dangerous, cloudy, suspense driven drama have no clue of how their deeds will unfold. The collateral damage alert has long surpassed the red warning area on the thermometer.
On an evening at the theatre, Blane unknowingly becomes entangled in a web so smooth that it appeared to be honey. In the wrong place at the wrong time, he becomes ensnared in a plot that involves: Conrad Washington, Multi-Billionaire and CEO of Baileen Industries, his employer; Detective Valentine, master criminalist, who has been tracking a string of suspicious, high-level industrial crimes in the region for the last six months; and Carlina Acardi, the espionage suspect, who alludes capture at every level.
Detective Valentine has summoned officers to pick-up Blake and bring him to police headquarters to question him about Carlina Acardi. Carlina is suspected of industrial spying – possibly even murder. Events seem to spiral out of control as Blake recounts his encounters and moments with Carlina.
What happened? Who’s really involved? Nothing is what anyone wants it to be. Who and what will be next? Murder. Manipulation. Seduction. Power. Collapse.
“The Neo Lounge Affair” beckons listeners into the complex mind of Toao. A compelling story told in film noir style – its music sets the front stage for what’s happening ‘on stage’. This project races beyond the Downtempo and Euro Lounge sound of yesterday and evolves into a sensational and captivating new world described by SOILSOUND as “Neo Lounge”. SOILSOUND fuses a compelling story with the styles of Downtempo, Hip-Hop and Nu Soul with Nu Jazz undertones. “The Neo Lounge Affair”. The Beginning.
Reviews
“The music itself is near perfect for the narrative. It’s not crime jazz, but mid tempo neo-lounge with beautiful melodies.” – Properly Chilled
“The script of the Neo Lounge Affair is simple and simply beautiful; a well-written plot with well-composed electronica. At each reprise, the story unfolds, quickly followed by chillout of the highest quality.” – Slackline Radio
“From strictly a musical standpoint, Toao is able to pull off what many be better-known artists of this genre cannot – being able to draw the listen in for a full album of ambient electronic without becoming too far leftfield or even worse too mundane. With “The Neo Lounge Affair”, Toao is also able to take an edgy cinematic approach to music without becoming, say, too avant-garde (if that makes sense?). The production is fantastic with pleasant, cutting, yet unobtrusive hip-hop beats, punctuated with mood-altering drifts of atmospheric synthesizer tones that create a sophisticated depth of sound not often heard nowadays in electronica. In the end “The Neo Lounge Affair” does what it is supposed to do which is to provide an über-cool, sonic background that establishes a surreal mood and feeling – the music is a perfect for chilling out and relaxing with a martini in hand.” – SoulCommune
“The Neo Lounge Affair is a brilliant combination of music and a story taking the listener to a place of love, mystery and scandal. Groove oriented music with a pulse to set a mood that’s very fitting to the new experience of electronic down tempo. A must have for your new music collection.” – Gary Fuston, GHP RADIO
